    Về lý thuyết thì mấy National Lab vẫn có thể nhận international researcher, nhưng mà ở đâu cũng vậy, họ luôn ưu tiên citizen hay permanent resident (cái này luôn được ghi rõ chứ không phải luật bất thành văn). Những chỗ ngon thì mình e cũng khó đến lượt các bạn inter.

    Bạn Timmy nói đúng rồi. Cũng không có luật bất thành văn đâu. Em thấy Sandia với mấy cái Livermore, Los Alamos hay mấy có mấy cái defense contract. Nó cũng ghi rõ luôn chỉ tuyển US citizen. Nếu cái nào cho international nó cũng ghi luôn. Trong mấy cái National Lab, thì em thấy Lawrence Berkeley với Oak Ridge là có vẻ open cho international nhất.

    Tùy vị trí thôi bạn, nó có thông báo rõ là vị trí nào cần citizenship, vị trí nào cần GC và vị trí nào cho tất cả mọi người.

    Thường các postdoc ở Nat. Labs đều mở cho người nước ngoài, trừ 1 số ít vị trí làm các công việc đặc biệt. Đến Nat. Labs mới thấy ở đó người quốc tế rất nhiều, khá welcome người nước ngoài, nó không quá chú trọng security như nhiều người thường nghĩ đâu. Các job postings thì nhiều khi người soạn cứ copy&paste các yêu cầu về security clearance này nọ, nhưng bản chất không cần, nhất là đối với postdocs. Cách tốt nhất, khi thấy vị trí opening, các bác chịu khó tìm hiểu vị trí đó thực sự của nhóm nào, tìm cách liên hệ trực tiếp với người đang cần postdoc. Lúc đó các bác sẽ rõ hết là có cần security clearance kô, chứ đừng tin vào lời post. Nói tóm lại SVVN ta cứ mạnh dạn apply lên Nat. Labs, xem security clearance là vấn đề rất nhỏ, khi trình của bạn cao, bọn nó (các researchers đang tuyển postdoc) sẽ có cách giải quyết hết. Lương postdoc ở Nat. Labs thường cao gấp rưỡi so với Uni., > 70k, bon Sandia trả khá cao > 80k.
    Nhưng nghe tin bọn Cộng hòa vừa lên, cắt giảm rất nhiều $$$ cho nghiên cứu cơ bản cho năm này, các Nat. Labs cũng bị ảnh. hường.

    Vấn đề ở chỗ nhưng chỗ ngon thường rất cạnh tranh, không phải chỉ có mỗi mình các bạn apply mà có hàng đống hồ sơ. Để chọn lựa thì những domestic applicants đều có lợi thế hơn (những nat. labs mà có support từ chính phủ nó thường ưu tiên cho công dân của nó là điều dễ hiểu). Cho nên trừ khi phải cực kỳ xuất sắc mà match cái jobs đăng thì mới được nhận. Tất nhiên là cứ mạnh dạn apply thôi. Tiện thể các bạn có thông tin là có bạn Việt Cộng nào hiện đã và đang làm ở các nat. labs thì mới có thể nói dễ hay khó được.

    The Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Team of Environmental Biogeochemical Cycle Research Program of Research Institute for Global Change solicits a Postdoctoral Researcher to engage in the Environment Research and Technology Development Fund (theme ID: S-9) supported by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE). The research theme is "Mapping and spatio-temporal change detection of biodiversity and ecosystem service/function by remote sensing" which is one of four sub-themes of "Quantitative evaluation of the impact of biodiversity degradation on ecosystem function and service in Asia."

    A Postdoctoral Researcher will involve in following research activities:
    (1) Analysis of ecosystem distribution and interannual change by satellite remote sensing over temperate and tropic regions in Eastern Asia.
    (2) Classification of land cover and the mapping by satellite remote sensing over temperate and tropic regions in Asia
    (3) Evaluation of biodiversity and ecosystem service/function based on the result of (1) and (2).
    * Applicants are expected to use an image process application software, GIS, and/or coding language (i.e. FORTRAN etc.).

    Requirements
    1) Candidates must have a Ph.D in related field. Advanced knowledge in remote sensing and the mapping are required. Also, applicants must be within five years since awarded a Ph.D. at the time of appointment.

    Postdoctoral Opportunity at Colorado, USA

    Applications are invited to work in the theory group of Prof. Zhigang Wu in Department of Physics of Colorado School of Mines (CSM), starting in the fall of 2011. This position is for one year and is renewable for a second year. Renewal beyond two years is subject to the availability of funds.

    The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of research topics related to quantum mechanical simulations of materials, specifically, developing new first-principles methods for calculating electronic excitations in complex nanostructures for photovoltaic and other optoelectronic applications. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics and strong background in mathematics. Extensive experience with electronic structure calculations using DFT, GW/BSE, and quantum Monte Carlo is preferred.

    Research Position:  Columbia EFRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist
    The Columbia University Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC), supported by the Department of Energy and Columbia University, is seeking outstanding candidates for EFRC Postdoctoral Research Scientists.   The EFRC Postdoctoral Research Scientists work directly within the EFRC program, collaborating across research groups to help drive and support the basic goals and directions of the EFRC.   

    The Center is dedicated to the vision of developing enabling science and technology that can drive new generations of highly efficient thin film and hybrid solar cells (see www.cise.columbia.edu/efrc/ ).

    Candidates should hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related science.  An additional one or two years of postdoctoral experience is especially desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a very strong scientific or engineering background as evidenced by research publications in peer‐reviewed journals and other awards and activities.   In addition candidates should demonstrate a record of successful collaborative research, preferably across disciplinary lines.  Candidates should be effective independent researchers, capable of developing a research program built around EFRC program themes and in collaboration with EFRC Principal Investigators.  Candidates should have strong leadership qualities and possess excellent communication skills.

    The EFRC Postdoctoral Research Scientists will work with the EFRC Directors to develop a research plan involving exploration of new horizons in the science and engineering of thin film organic and hybrid Solar Cells.  This plan will involve collaboration with two or more Principal Investigators within the EFRC

Candidates need to have a good knowledge in analysis and modelling of geographic flows. Good knowledge of related topics (e.g. spatial interaction models, local models, spatial autocorrelation) is an advantage. The applicants should have the goal of completing research on Regional Flux Analysis.

    Description des tâches:

    Up to 50% of the time will be dedicated to modelling and empirical analysis of geographic flows and their autocorrelation, and collective research (scientific publications, contributions to conferences, etc.), in coordination with F. Bavaud, C. Kaiser and C. Mager, initiators of the project.
    At least 50% of the time will be dedicated to personal research (writing publications based on former research, publications on new topics of personal interest, contributions to conferences etc.).
