    Young Harris College

    Young Harris College is a selective liberal arts institution serving students who demonstrate strong academic commitment. Founded in 1886 and affiliated with The United Methodist Church, the college currently enrolls approximately 700 students across four divisions - Fine Arts, Humanities, Mathematics and Science, and Social and Behavioral Sciences- with a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1. Young Harris College enjoys a strong endowment and is engaged in significant expansion after receiving approval in 2008 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to begin offering baccalaureate degrees in a number of fields. Young Harris College is located two hours north of Atlanta and two hours south of Asheville, NC in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains.

    Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time position in Computer Information Systems / Computer Science beginning August 1, 2010. The ideal candidate will have earned a master's or higher degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline and will exhibit a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate, liberal arts setting. A master's degree is expected; a terminal degree is required for tenure track. Applicants should be willing and able to teach introductory computer literacy courses that include an introduction to Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel. The ability to teach additional courses related to the educational or business uses of computers is a plus. The candidate should be equipped to assist in curriculum development as majors in computer science and information technology are developed in the future. As these programs are developed, the candidate should be able to teach upper division courses related to expertise. Addition responsibilities include committee work and academic advising. Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check.
